26 October 2023

[ST. TERESA, FL] – The Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory and St. James Bay Golf and Pickleball Resort had another successful Play for the Bay Benefit Golf Tournament on Friday, October 13th. Fourteen sponsors and twenty-seven teams helped raise over $22,000 for FSUCML graduate students.

On Friday, October 13th, 2023, the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory (FSUCML) partnered with St. James Bay Golf and Pickleball Resort to tee off its second annual Play for the Bay Benefit Golf Tournament.  The purpose of Play for the Bay is to raise funds that reach beyond university and grant funding to ensure that sufficient monies are available to continue the mission of FSUCML. With support from fourteen sponsors and twenty-seven teams, the FSUCML was able to raise over $22K. This money will go directly to FSUCML graduate students to help them fund various aspects of their research as applicable.

The FSUCML would like to extend a special thank you to Gene Jones, SWIX USA, and ACM. Without Gene’s contribution and guidance as this year's golf committee chairman, none of this would have been possible.

The FSUCML would also like to extend a huge thank you to St. James Bay Golf and Pickleball Resort and Crooked River Grill for being such gracious hosts. In addition, we would also like to extend an enormous thank you to all their wonderful sponsors – (Estuary Level) AIRCON of Wakulla, ALSCO Uniforms; (Longest Drive) Crawfordville Equipment Rental; (Closest to Pin) Crawfordville Equipment Rental; (Trail Sponsors) Lowe Title Services, Golden Construction; (Hole Sponsors) Vessel Rental Solutions, Prime Meridian Bank, Golden Properties; (Food and Beverage sponsor) Lynwood Development, Forgotten Toast Bread services; (Recycling Sponsor) MARPAN Recycling.

The FSUCML’s mission is to conduct innovative, pioneering, interdisciplinary research on coastal and marine ecosystems, to mentor the next generation of problem solvers, and to leverage scientific outcomes and expertise through engagement with stakeholders to optimize marine management and conservation.
